The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship at UChicago is a two-year fellowship program that supports, mentors, and funds underrepresented students who are interested in academia.
To achieve our mission, we support fellows in a sustained research project, including through the Summer Research Training Program hosted by UChicago. We provide faculty mentoring, financial support, and a supportive community of peers in order to introduce fellows to the culture of academia and assist in their applications to doctoral programs. Ultimately, the MMUF aims to identify and support students of great promise and help them to become scholars of the highest distinction.
