The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship at UChicago is a two-year program that supports, mentors, and funds rising juniors who intend to pursue graduate study in the humanities and related fields. The program supports Fellows in developing independent research projects and provides sustained faculty mentorship, financial support, and a collaborative community of peers. Fellows are introduced to the expectations of academic scholarship and receive structured guidance as they prepare for doctoral program applications. Our aim is to support Fellows’ intellectual and professional development, preparing them to become scholars dedicated to field-transforming research and teaching.
