Professor Travis A. Jackson is an Associate Professor of Music and the Humanities and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Music. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1998 and joined the faculty at the University of Chicago in 2003. As an an ethnomusicologist, his work centers on jazz, rock, and recording technology with a theoretical focus on urban geography, race/culture and identity, ethnographic method, performance and aesthetics.
